Previous step: Switch to FutureTax
A .COR file is an electronic data file generated by corporate tax software that contains your completed T2 Corporation Income Tax Return ready for transmission to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). If you filed your previous return using another tax software package and are considering switching to FutureTax, you can import your prior-year .COR file into a compatible FutureTax version and then carry the return forward into a newer FutureTax version. This allows your prior-year information to be transferred automatically.
First, determine the most recent FutureTax T2 version that supports the taxation year you are currently preparing. For example, if you are preparing a return for the taxation year January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, and FutureTax T2 2026.1 is the latest version that supports that taxation year, download and install FutureTax T2 2026.1.
In this guide, this version will be referred to as the current version.
Next, determine the most recent earlier FutureTax T2 version that supports the prior-year return you wish to import. Do not use the current version selected above. For example, if your prior-year return covers the taxation year January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024, and your current-year return is being prepared in FutureTax T2 2026.1, the most recent earlier version that supports the 2024 taxation year would be FutureTax T2 2025.2. Download and install that version as well.
In this guide, this version will be referred to as the previous version.
