1. When will I receive my license key?

Your license key will be sent to you by e-mail immediately after your purchase is approved. It usually takes less than 30 minutes. A network problem may delay or drop the e-mail. The e-mail may have been misdirected to your Junk mail folder. Please send us a support enquiry or e-mail to if you have not received your license key within 30 minutes of your purchase.

Please note that if you purchase by eCheck, your license key will not be sent until we receive notification that your eCheck has cleared your bank; it can take 7-8 days to clear your bank.


2. Why I did not receive your support e-mail?

Normally we will write you back as soon as we receive your e-mail. If you have not received our reply within 24 hours, please check the spam control of your mail client as well as the firewall and anti-virus software settings of your computer as they may block our e-mails.


3. How to save my tax return into a PDF file?

4. Can FutureTax transfer tax information from other tax software?

FutureTax cannot transfer tax information from other tax software since there is no protocol for sharing data between them for now.


5. Can I have back up of client returns on a USB flash disk or a disk drive?

Yes, FutureTax saves tax returns into FutureTax file (*.f06, *.f07 etc). You can copy or back up these files on your USB flash drive or disk drive.


6. At times I go to a client and gather data or information on a laptop, can I transfer the same to my desktop and work on the returns?

Yes, you can transfer the FutureTax files (*.f06, *.f07 etc) gathered from your laptop and open them with FutureTax on your desktop.


7. Why am I not able to run FutureTax on Vista/Windows 7?

The login user doesn't have Administrator privileges. Right-click on the installation file - futuretaxnetfile2009.exe, select "Run as Administrator" from the prompt menu and install FutureTax again.


8. Do I need an accountant to file my T2 tax return in FutureTax?

You don't have to. You can do yourself to file your T2 tax return in FutureTax.


9. Do you have a version for taxation year prior to 2009?

No. FutureTax T2 supports the taxation year starting from January 1, 2009.


10. Can I use FutureTax on my laptop and my home computer with one license key?

License key has to be installed on one computer only. You can prepare your tax returns on other unlicensed computers and transfer the tax return files to the licensed computer and file them to CRA.


11. Why does my browser warn me your software can harm my computer while I am to download?

You can ignore it by clicking the button to continue the download.


12. Internet Explorer has just displayed the message after I downloaded FutureTax - "futuretax.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer". What should I do now?

To continue installing FutureTax, do what follows:
- Click the Actions button in the displayed message;
- In the SmartScreen Filter dialog box, click the down arrow to the left of More options, and click Run anyway.


13. I used Future Tax last year. Unfortunately, I did not print a copy for myself. Do you keep any records from last year?

We don't keep any of your records. All tax returns are stored on your computer. Please remember to save your tax returns when you prepare them in FutureTax.


14. Why I can't make a purchase? I got "We are sorry, we are experiencing temporary difficulties. Please try again later. If this error occurred while making a payment, avoid duplicate payments by checking your Account Overview before resending a payment. Message 3005".

Please clear your browser's cache and cookie files. Or use a differnt broswer - Firefox to purchase.


15. How do I delete a tax return?

The path of tax return file is at the top blue caption bar of FutureTax. Locate the file in your Windows Explorer and delete it. Then the file is removed from the Start Screen of FutureTax.


16. Can I upgrade to the current version from previous release version?

The upgrade works for the subversions of one release version. It doesn't update previous release versions. i.e., you can update all changes for FutureTax T2 2012.1. But if you installed version 2011.2, you cannot upgrade to 2012.1. Please download and install version 2012.1. Purchase a new license key if applicable.


17. Can I prepare T2 short tax return in FutureTax?

No, FutureTax doesn't support T2 short tax return.
